Learning Anatomy.. taken to another LEVEL..
Im a medical student and I know what it takes to learn anatomy the traditional (somewhat cumbersome) way: by multiple atlases, didactic teaching, tons of text and dissecting cadavers.. Collectively these are sufficient, but "connecting the dots" and synthesizing the ideas of where each structure is actually situated, requires cross-referencing text, lecture material, images from atlases and physically finding these structures on a cadaver.. add to that, 4-7 other classmates vying for that experience..
This application is pure GOLD. Being able to rotate the body on all planes, highlight only the structure you want to see, even fade out the rest all whie being able to read information on that structure.. is priceless, and seamlessly accomplishes the "synthesizing" of the aforementioned course materials/resources. You could easily tell, on a 3D plane, where and how the radial nerve wraps around the humerus (arm bone), how each and every organ is situated with relation to each other as well as with all the nerves, vasculature and musculature of the entire body, head to toe. The graphics are perfect with a limitless zoom capability.. you really see how everything is laid out, there is basically no room for confusion.
I cant imagine gaining a spatial understanding at a level such as this, with this efficiency any other way..
My only complaints: Lymph system is not complete, needs lymph vasculature -- needs the rest of the brain structures, such as the nuclei (Caudate, etc..), basal ganglia, etc..
-Still giving it a 5 because even without these things mentioned, its an extremely invaluable learning resource that up to now, students have only dreamed of.
