Human Anatomy Atlas – 3D Anatomical Model of the Human Body App Reviews

Good but . . .

The software is good, images are quite accurate and easy to navigate. The ability to hide and fade layers is excellent. Unfortunately there are several features missing that are described in the tutorials and help files. The description in the App Store is accurate but if your are expecting the capability to save views, natively capture images, etc. they arent included. The tutorial and help files explain the steps but the interface is stripped down to basic image manipulation. Again, fine product at a very reasonable price but far different than the help files and tutorial.

Amazing

Incredible product for learning anatomy! 3D views of every system in the human body!

Helpful but not sufficient as an atlas replacement (for medical school)

I started using this as an MS1 in anatomy. Pros: easy to navigate, pin, fade and see exactly what you want to see good for seeing 3d relationships that books wont give you more detailed than zygotebody (the other 3d atlas I tried, although it is free), has definitions including origins, insertion, innervation developers seem willing to add content, I hope this trend continues Cons: Not detailed enough- not enough structures are noted. For example, many of the important heart arteries are missing, few tendons, connective tissue labeled (pleura too), points on structures are rarely labeled (apex of heart, coracoid process of scapula etc.) Runs a little hot on my laptop, probably better for a desktop If this program implemented a system like Netters atlas, where you could have floating labels pointing to various elements of a structure you select, only then would it be suitable as a replacement for a text atlas. If such a system were implemented, I would gladly pay twice the cost I did for this app. Bottom line: Not perfect and you will need an additional atlas for anatomy, but this is good for visualizing 3d relationships in a way that 2d images cant achieve.

Very good, but raise up the computer temperature

I think the atlas its very good! But why the temperature of my computers goes up when im using it?

Extremely taxing on Hard Drive & Low Quality Graphics

1) Whenever I run this app on my brand new mac book pro it starts to make my computer run hot with the fan starting and continously going until I quit. It might be perfectly fine for a brand new MBP 2012 to run this way on this kind of app for all I know, but it feels like its overworking the whole system. I alawys end up quitting it early because I am worried the computer is going to overheat. 2) The graphics are not very crisp and its almost pixelated in some views. I never experienced either of these two problems when running this program straight from the Visible Body website.

Anatomy Specialist

This is by far the most comprehensive anatomy app in the app store! Great App! I use this app every day! I would highly recommend it for studying anatomy!

Fun to study with this app

I bought it today and have been using it non-stop. I think what works great is the real 3D -- you can zoom in, zoom out, dissect from the skin through muscles, nerves, and arteries to organs. To dissect you just select a structure, hit the hide button and the structure is gone. Also great is the fact that you can select any structure to get its name and definition. SO COOL. Great learning tool.

Good for general anatomy

I am a first year medical student and bought this program as a tool for gross anatomy. After using it for a few months, I have found that it an be useful for musculature and general osteology…but for the price I was expecting more. This program outlines major arteries and nerves, but does not include near enough detail for my purposes. If youre looking for a tool to learn gross anatomy, I would stick to the books and save yourself the money.

Great App

As a student, this app has helped me a lot, the definitions are very well expleined and easy to comprehend, it is just a little expensive, but could say it worth each send, this covers every section of the body, so I recommend that if someone is looking for an anatomy app, this is the one, stop downloading little apps of certain part of the body, this as a whole teach the anatomic relations between parts and is very easy to handle, I recommend it 110%.

Great atlas

Would love to see the ability to select muscles for self-quizzing, but for the money is great as an atlas.

Med Student

So I bought this app right before my anatomy final, and Immediately regreted not purchasing it early due to its price (especially considering how much we spend on books and other resources). The program includes man fantastic details that many of the other competitors do not offer, like peritoneal folds, small substructures of organs. Some have complained about the lack of "detail" in this program, but I honestly have nothing to complain about and thought this was a great buy. After a few of my classemates saw the program they immediately purchased it themselves. Thanks!

The Big Boss!

This app has been my best friend during my first year of medicine. I recommend it to everyone how wants to be studying relax at his apartment instead of stay at the anatomy lab.

Best App for Anatonmy

This is by far the best app for anatomy, nothing else comes close!

Anatomy… better and better!

This ap is unquestionably the best Ive seen! As a formerly practicing doctor who is now involved in forensics as a scriptwriter, I find this a wonderful reference tool. I wish I had this when I was in school over 40 years ago! Medical and allied healthcare students would be wise to get this program! Wonder whats next… an anthropology subsection?

Good, but not perfect.

I’ve used some version of this for about a year and have seen steady improvements. I have to wonder, however, about the priorities of the developer. When I first purchased it, the orbital muscles of the eye were missing. Eventually these showed up, but there is still no representation of the sympathetic trunk or ganglia. This is too important a structure to bypass in lieu of other upgrades, it seems to me. It’s a very nice app, but at this point, is not yet a reliable substitute for a standardized anatomy atlas.

Human Anatomy Atlas

As a Medical Student this application is worth its weight in GOLD. It gives a complete and concise view of the human anatomy. EXCELLENT APPLICATION.

Parent of Baby with Developmental Issue

My wife and I recently had our first child. She was born with a condition that was pre-diagnosed and required surgery immediately after birth. We consider ourselves to be reasonably intelligent, but we are not doctors, and trying to be informed enough to ensure we could manage the decision making process and our own expectations has been a labor intensive exercise. This app helped bring a better understanding for us on the physical condition we were dealing with, and combined with a little time on wikipedia and nose deep in the dictionary we have become largely literate on the descriptions of all the areas of concern for our childs condition. We are by no means experts as a result, but we can now have discussions with the doctors that dont require them to dumb things down so much that all important information is lost. More importantly, when we do speak with the doctors the conversations are much more brief and effective, and save the doctors a lot of time. Also, when issues arise we are more quick to grasp the degree of seriousness (or lack there of) of what we are facing, and end up reacting more calmly which allows the doctors and nurses to spend less time dealing with us and more time doing what is necessary for our child. I will be writing to the developer separately, but I think a great new volume would be one focused on developmental conditions. In our specific case it would be great to be able to see the physical layout of different types of intestinal atresia (Type I through IV jejunal, other types of ileal, duodenal etc…), but I am sure there are thousands (maybe millions) of people out there who would be interested in having this type of resource for the countless other conditions both serious and less so. Im not sure if the creation of this app was born out of a passion for the topic, an attempt to make money, both, or otherwise, but Id like the developer and viewers to know that whether it was the intention or not, in our case, this app has changed our lives for the better during a very difficult time. Doctors take note, this app could make your explanations to parents more meaningful, and ultimately save you a lot of time. Hospitals take note, providing iPads with this app to your Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers etc… could hugely enhance your patient/family experience. Wishing you success and looking forward to more improvements and content.

App Doesnt Work at All if using an external dipslay

This app works well just as long as you dont want to do anything else at the same time. It wont work At ALL if you put the app over on an external display.

Outstanding! The most complete Atlas available.

This is a remarkable reference product. If I could give it 10 stars I would. The textures are incredibly life like.

Love the update

Im not sure how I got by without this app. Such a unique way to explore and show the human body. Great work!
